The Dog Days That Weren't

View from the top of the Verbois dam: the funny thing is this was not where we were headed when we set out that morning, but we got sort of... well, lost. Turned out ok, though, we just walked around for a bit and then caught the next bus home. Besides, I hadn't seen the dam before, so it was an interesting excursion nevertheless.

Along the Rhone river, the Cheneviers incineration plant. Right next to the dam, actually.

Somewhere over the Allondon river, a charming railway bridge. This was still at the time when there was an alleged drought, as the water level is low enough that one could practically skip across the stones to the other side.

It's been a while since I brought out this Hermes 3000 with its adorable Epoca typeface, so here we are. And in case you missed the post earlier this year where I showed this off, here is some type slug macro action:

  1. I'd totally trade you a week's worth of sunny days for a week of rain right about now. It keeps *threatening* to rain out here and then just doesn't, and instead we get humid heat rather than dry heat. ):

it's getting to the point that I'd trade my left testicle for a good, hard thunderstorm. :D

  2. I like this typeface!

We too have had a cold, wet summer, for the most part. Usually our weather gets warmish and rather dry after the first week of July and we have weeks of long, bright days. This year...not so much. Most days, we're lucky if it breaks 70 F (a calculator tells me this is about 21 degrees celsius), and we've had clouds and rain a good portion of the time.

Still, I can't complain. It's better than the alternative! And I've gotten in a lot of reading...

  3. @Ted: Now I think that's taking it a bit too far...

@LFP: You must be living in Geneva! Wanna go typewriter hunting this weekend? Seriously, 21 degrees C is a good day around here these days; usually mornings are around 12-13. Brrr!

  4. That's a great train bridge. I have a thing for those, but most of them in my area are steel (still neat but not like this one).
