I don't have a tv or radio and spend my internet time looking at typewriters, so I didn't even realize this was a major thing affecting so many countries in Northern Europe.
Of course, it is highly unusual for all affected - in Geneva, this is only the 5th time since 1850 we've had more than 30cm of snow, and all the others have been after the New Year (Jan/Feb/Mar).
