Happy first day of spring, Typosphere! And, Happy Birthday to me :-) A special post to mark the occasion:
Whew! That was long - by no means should you feel the need to answer all 21 questions if you would like to take part; just select some which you think would be fun to answer.
For the Tages Anzeiger article and its translation into English (ably carried out by Florian), please see the first item on my brand new "Press/ Mentions Around The Web" page.
A very merry springtime to all!
Those are some of the answers I wanted to know but were too afraid to ask!! ;-) A good read as always on your blog and I particularly like the new Press section! Very inspiring; well done!!
ReplyDeleteAn interesting and enjoyable read, Adwoa, thanks for sharing this with us! Your passion for typewriters really shines
ReplyDeletethrough here.
You just started in 2010 and have so far amassed a total of 80 typewriters (giveaways included)? That is astonishing! Then again, you're in typewriter wonderland. ( :
... and Happy Birthday!
DeleteHappy first day of spring! You are amazing! Only collecting from 2010! I thought that was only when you started your blog. Great interview.
ReplyDeleteVery good post! I can't get over how similar your collecting philosophy seems to be to mine. You have ore than I thought you did.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! And Happy Birthday too!
ReplyDeleteA very happy birthday to you!
ReplyDeleteI started collecting typewriters in February 2012 when I remembered that I had an old beat up Remette in the garage. I got it fixed (expensive and still not functioning very well). I am now the proud owner of 24 manual typewriters! And there are quite a few more that I do plan to acquire as soon as I can find them available for purchase!
I recognise some parts of the article. :)
ReplyDeleteI got similiar questions. Great post.
I've been thinking about something to blog about...this may just be the motivation I need! Fun read!
ReplyDeleteGreat post. I feel identified with some answers. Happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteA very entertaining and informative post. It was great to have a glimpse into what "makes you tick" typewriter-wise!
ReplyDeleteA very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you, as well.
Great post! Some of this questions had already crossed my mind but I've never had the chance to ask them... And happy birthday :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting the great Q&A. And Happy Birthday! I personally think March birthdays are special, but that's probably just a selfish Aries kind of thing.
ReplyDeleteAh! There WAS one other question I would have asked you had I been interviewing you...
ReplyDeleteHow do you actually, physically, store your treasures?? Do you pile 'em hi, or do you put them where ever there's a cubby hole, or do you have them all on dispsplay, or...??
Reagrds,
Qurious in Brighton
Great question! I suppose the reporter didn't ask it because he interviewed me at home and could easily see the answer for himself. I keep my typewriters closed up in their cases and stored on shelves/ in closets around the apartment. In fact, only the Noiseless 7 is on display, since it came without a case (and makes for rather handsome decor, anyway). Florian posted about my collection and storage style on his blog in December: http://maschinengeschrieben.blogspot.com/2011/12/typing-through-adwoas-collection.html
DeleteVery nice solution for storage, very clever and you can use any typewriter you want by taking it from the shelf, as with books :-)
